Aquila Global Group’s Wplay.com is pleased to announce that it is the very first operator to go live in the country after winning approval from regulator ColJuegos and being awarded a Colombian online license. The regulator revealed that Wplay.co is of Colombian origin and was certified by BMM Testlabs.
The online operator anticipates that it will create about 3,000 direct or indirect employment opportunities and is hoping to meet a one million registered user milestone by the end of its first three-year licensing term.
According to ColJuegos, its 325-page blacklist will be published in the following few days that will identify those operators that it considers to be operating in the market illegally. Those companies who meet financial, technical and legal requirements by ColJueogos will, however, be able to apply for online gaming licenses enabling them to operate in Colombia.
ColJuegos President Juan B. Perez Hidalgo said that Colombia was the first country in the region to implement online gaming regulation, drawing attention of companies from across the globe.
The head of ColJuegos added that it plans to announce new online casino gaming licenses in the second half of the year and as they actively work towards creating a strong regulatory framework they want to encourage gaming operators to join the Colombian market. He also explained that gaming taxes will be used to fund social causes and improve community well-being.
ColJuegos expects the online gaming market in Colombia to generate an amount of up to $8B in the first years of operation.
